Hi there!

Okay, so I know my family’s been in the furniture business since I was 2, but this is the first time that I’ve taken my aspirations public.  I’m painting, I’m blogging, I’m stocking a booth at the American Mercantile.  The name of my little biz may seem ridiculous, but there IS a story behind it.  Much of my merchandise will be castoff pieces that are given new life and style with a little paint and a lot of love. So obviously that’s where the “Painted” part of the name comes from.  The “Prune”? A silly story.  My six-year-old daughter has been obsessed with prunes since she was 2.  No idea why.  In fact, she loves prunes so much that she declared long ago that her first born child, be it a boy or a girl, was to be named Prune. I’m hoping that The Painted Prune will satisfy her enough that she won’t have to traumatize my future grandchild with such an interesting moniker.  We’ll see. The booth is going fabulously, and as soon as I get my pro camera back from my mom, I’ll be much happier, but I’ll leave you with a quick iPhone-photo before and after.  I found this sad little contraption and knew it was meant to be something awesome. Image So with a bit of imagination, I came up with this.  Cool communication center with pin boards on each side and a chalkboard in the middle that can reverse to become a mirror for a fresh look. Some great spring-inspired milk paint and voila!  A fabulous piece for the foyer or den of a busy family. ImageThanks so much for your visit! Lots more to come…

Another quick before and after…

If you PROMISE not to notice the background mess or the terrible iPhone quality of the photos, I’ll share another quick little before and after with you.  This is a great little bar cart that I found in a nearby town.  Loved the idea of it, but the paint and decor were gagging me a bit.

I decided to brighten it up and change up the fabric to give it a fresh new look.  The perfect piece for someone who is short on space but loves to entertain.  What better way to serve your guests?

This piece will be available in the mercantile either tomorrow or Friday, depending on my little one getting over her flu…I am about to go stir crazy from being housebound so long.

Thanks for stopping by!
